BAKING SUNDAY 8 MAY FOR A NEW MARKET IN WAVERTON VILLAGE HALL

Wow your guests with my walnut pie

Now NOT baking Sat 7 May but….

… instead I’m baking SUN 8 MAY for a new market set up by Homegrown Events in Waverton Village Hall from 10 am  to  2 pm.  The address is  Common Lane, Waverton, Chester, Cheshire CH3 7QT.   There is a big car park and it would be great to see you there but you can order to collect from my front door in CH2 4ER between 4.30 pm and 6 pm if that’s more convenient.  (I’ll send directions if you haven’t been to my house before).

Next bakes: Sat 14 May – collect from my front door or request a free local delivery.  Sat 21 May – Taste Cheshire Market on Chester Town Hall Square 0930 – 1630.

There’s no need to order if you are shopping at the Waverton market this Sunday but you can do so if you wish.

I’ll have a wider offering at the market but the following are available to order for collection at Waverton Village Hall or my front door.  Please state where you intend to collect and supply a mobile tel no if possible.

All types of bread and other yeasted products this week are suitable for vegans.

BREAD WITH BAKERS’ YEAST

400g Traditional White – £2.50

GENUINE SOURDOUGH WHOLEGRAIN ‘HEAVIES’ (naturally leavened without bakers’ yeast)

800g  Stoneground Wholegrain Wheat and Rye Tin – £3.80

570g  ’Borodinsky’ Stoneground Wholegrain Rye Tin with Coriander Seeds – £3.60

OTHER YEASTED PRODUCTS

Giant Chelsea Buns – £2.20 each

CAKES ETC

All suitable for vegetarians but not for vegans

Harry’s Cake - for lovers of nuts and stem ginger £16.00 per kg. Whole cakes cost between £7.50 and £9.00.  Half-cakes are also available.  Will keep for at least a month in your fridge.

Bara Brith – bbe 3/6/22 – £4.50 Suitable for freezing

Dark ginger cake – bbe 4/6/22 – £5.00 Suitable for freezing

Walnut Pie – will keep for at least one month in your fridge and can also be frozen.  A whole pie (10 – 12 inch diameter*) costs £24.00or you can choose any number of slices for £3.00 each. 1 slice is 1/8 of a pie and is easily enough for two portions.  If you order more than one slice I will supply them in one piece so that you can choose yourself where to cut.  *10″ diameter pies are slightly deeper than 12″ dia. and both sizes weigh the same.  Sorry but it isn’t possible to choose which diameter unless you are ordering a whole pie.

SAVOURIES

Mac ‘n Black – Ready meal for one person in a ceramic dish to re-heat in your oven or microwave. Macaroni with black pudding from Pen y Lan (Wrexham) free-range rare-breed pigs, chorizo, sun-dried tomatoes and spinach in a creamy béchamel sauce topped with extra-mature cheddar cheese.  350g – £4.50. Will keep in your fridge until Thursday evening. Please return the ceramic dish. (Only available if ordered.)

Savoury Brioche Tart with tomatoes and basil or broccoli and stilton.   Whole rectangular tart – £13 (approx 30 x 20 x 2.5 cm).  Half rectangular tart £7. Quarter rectangular tart £3.60.  One quarter is sufficient for two portions. Will keep in your fridge until Wednesday evening and can be frozen for up to 6 months. Eat cold or re-heat. Suitable for veggies but not vegans.

Nut roast with chestnuts, cashews, mushrooms, pearl barley.  £6 each or £11 for 2.  Serves 2. Will keep in your fridge until Tuesday evening or freeze for up to 6 months.   Suitable for veggies but not vegans.
